Mount de Chantal offers a coed environment for
Montessori preschool and kindergarten and the elementary program
(1st - 6th grades). Mount de Chantal's secondary program (7th -
12th grades) is the only all-girls secondary school in the state
of West Virginia.Mount de
Chantal's Montessori Program
Founded in 1970, Mount de Chantal’s Montessori
Program has an enduring tradition of excellence. The experienced
teachers at Mount Montessori strive to instill a lifelong love
of learning in their students. Each classroom is staffed by a
Montessori-trained teacher who is a member of the American
Montessori Society and a trained assistant. Our teachers and
staff welcome and appreciate each child’s individual learning
style and pace.

Mount de
Chantal's Elementary Program
The Elementary Program at Mount de Chantal is
co-educational and includes grades one through six. Enrollment
is limited to 16 students per grade level to ensure an excellent
student-to-teacher ratio. The faculty inspires students to
acquire an enthusiasm for adventure, a lively curiosity, and a
love of learning. The curriculum emphasizes a solid mastery of
basic skills, the development of critical thinking and
problem-solving skills, as well as creativity in expression.

Mount de
Chantal's Secondary Program
The Secondary Program at Mount de Chantal
Visitation Academy encompasses grades seven through twelve,
which has always been for young women only. In response to the
needs of our students, Mount de Chantal has designed the
Pathways to Success curriculum, which lets students select a
level of challenge appropriate to their interests and abilities.
They can choose a traditional, slightly accelerated or
accelerated path to graduation. Pathways balances a student’s
academic interests and strengths. Through this unique program,
Mount girls may also jumpstart their college education by
earning not only Advanced Placement credit, but by earning
college credits at Wheeling Jesuit University, whose campus
adjoins ours. Our students have the opportunity to take English,
Math, History, Computer Science, and other courses at Wheeling
Jesuit University.
