The Elementary Program at Mount de Chantal is co-educational and includes grades one through four. Enrollment is limited to 16 students per grade level to ensure an excellent student/teacher ratio.

The faculty inspires students to acquire an enthusiasm for adventure, a lively curiosity, and a love of learning. The curriculum emphasizes a solid mastery of basic skills, the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as creativity in expression.

Hands-on activities are included in the curriculum to facilitate the acquisition of invaluable skills, concepts and problem-solving abilities. Science labs, computer labs, etc. are also utilized to maximize classroom learning. Computers are accessible to students in order for teachers to incorporate informational technology into a variety of subjects. Also magazines, newspapers, and periodicals from our school library are accessible to students at home (via computer links) in order to enhance student research related to school assignments.

Our Elementary Program curriculum includes courses in the basic subject areas as well as courses in the arts, religion, computer, and foreign language as listed below:

  • Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

Teachers, students and parents maintain close contact. Conferences are scheduled twice yearly to review the student’s progress. Parents are welcome to observe a classroom at any scheduled time and to meet with teachers in arranged conferences. As an adjunct to assuring a smooth transition for new students, weekly progress reports are sent home for the first quarter grading period and continued beyond if requested. Communication between faculty and parents is encouraged and welcomed.
